Review of the American Chemical Society Publications

The American Chemical Society database is a great source to utilize. Users are provided a multitude of ways to search the database. Users can search through the collection by typing the authors name, title of an article, citations, publications/websites, or by including the digital object identifier.

From what I can gather not much is provided about the the digitization of the database’s collection of books, journals, and newspapers.

The society was formed in 1876 and established its own journal in 1879. The database consists of present day works and those dating back to the late eighteenth century.

Some of the varying content within the database are available in print form. In addition, links to the full text of some content are available.
I could not find any reviews of the American Chemical Society. However Wikipedia has a overview of the organization and the challenges it has recently faced. In particularly, it discusses the society’s initial opposition to open access of its materials and recent legal cases the organization has been involved in.
